Sophie had JUST left the dorm and was heading out to class when disaster struck .... again.
Determined to keep up her grades, she ignored the screaming of the smoke alarm and the panicked yells from the dormies.
Sophie: I KNOW something's wrong, but I can't skip this class (despite a wish springing up saying that she wanted to skip FIVE classes!! NO. WAY!)
It was a decision she would regret, as the fire took hold and went on a complete rampage.
Yes, that fire woman was still there. For some manic reason, she'd become stuck and was a passing reminder to everyone of the consequences of playing with fire. It obviously fell on deaf ears.
Many dormies tried to put out the flames. Even the fire service was called in. But, sadly, the flames just caught on and it spread.
Sophie dashed back to the dorm, the minute she finished class and helped as much as she could.
At one point I was afraid that her wings would catch on fire and it would be game over for her. But it appears that her wings are fire proof!
Finally, the fire was put out.
But not before we discovered yet another casualty from this disaster.
Yep, another ghost to add to the front garden.
And another visit from Grimmy, who regarded this poor soul with obvious contempt as he pleaded his case.
Ghostly Student: Please, oh please. Save me. Save my soul. Let me live! PLEASE!!!
Grimmy: Sorry, you should have listened to everyone's advice and not play with fire.
Sophie, used to seeing Grimmy, just shrugged her shoulders and set about making Autumn Salad, since the cooker was out of commission, and most of the cupboards were badly burned.* Besides, it was the safer option, considering the circumstances.
Clean up was going to be a total pain this time.
And it didn't help that there were pee puddles and a couple of dormies were passed out cold on the floor.
*yes, I'm aware that there's a continuity error there as regards the cupboards. I'd just replaced them all at a serious cost to Sophie's bank balance.

Fairy Wings Are Fire Proof!
Saturday, 7 February 2015
Ice .... And Fire ... Literally.
Half way through the first term, the university brought in a new lecturer, whose radical ideas raised a few eyebrows.
I mean, seriously? Sitting down and sketching in the deep snow? What is this? The Antarctic?
At least there was a mime artist trying to cheer them all up whilst they sit there, teeth chattering and fingers turning blue.
Sophie: That's .... an interesting act you've got there.
Mime Artist: ....
Sophie: Oh, sorry. I forgot, you're not supposed to speak. My bad.
But the day wasn't over just yet, as even more drama unravelled. Sophie had to dash home because yet another fire had broken out in the dorm. This time, the damage was even more extensive.
And yes, that pyro was back, surveying the damage. Methinks she had something to do with it. But, since I was keeping an eye on Sophie during her class, I couldn't point fingers.
The fire service must have employed a rookie ... or a serious sicko. Because she stood there, watching the flames lick higher and higher.
Firewoman: Yep, that's one heck of a fire you got there.
And then had the nerve to start poking fun at everyone!
Karma ensued shortly afterwards as a small spark shot across the room and started burning her clothes. She was quite a sight, hopping up and down and screaming ... "SOMEONE PUT ME OUT!!! MY BUTT IS ON FIRE!!!"
Oh and it seems that this year, the coursework is getting tougher on the students. Once the fire was put out, one of them bemoaned the fact that he'd failed his mock exams and hoped to do better this term. So there's hope for you yet Sophie.
After the drama, came the calm.
Ghost: So, dramatic day huh?
Sophie: You're not kidding there.
Ghost: There's never a dull moment, is there?
Sophie: You got that right. Listen, I'm a bit stressed out so I hope you don't mind if I go play video games in the other room?
Ghost: No, of course not. Nice chatting, catch up soon.
It was true. The fire, along with having to sit in the thick snow, had seriously stressed Sophie out. There were a few things she needed to do, but her stress levels were so high that she almost fell into a depression. Not a good thing for a student.
However, just as she managed to get through the first level of her adventure game, her phone started ringing. She chose to ignore it, knowing exactly what it was ... and a party was the last thing she wanted to go to.

Blaine Attempts to Create a Protege
After a long hard slog of sing a grams, Sophie headed back home to see solace with the chickies. She used to find comfort with Pat. But, with their relationship still teetering on the edge, she found these gold coloured fluff balls soothing .. and adorable. S0NNY patiently waited his/her (I still haven't established a gender for this Plumbot, maybe a male?) turn.
Blaine, in the meantime, rolled a Wish to create a Plumbot of his very own. He'd managed to achieve some basic knowledge on Nanites and Trait Chips. So I put him to work.
And LO! He created .... BL4IN3.
Blaine: Now, remember B2 (his nickname for BL4IN3), you are still a basic model and very fragile indeed.
B4: What's ... 'fragile'
JINXIE: Oh, please...
Blaine: JINXIE, be nice.
JINXIE: I don't have to babysit this thing do I?
Blaine: Not all the time.
JINXIE: Well, I should hope not.
Unfortunately, by the time Blaine had ... unsuccessfully ... debriefed B4 about how to behave in the house, it was time to go to work. (oh how I have missed the Firefighter Career) This time, he had his work cut out, as a medium sized earthquake hit the town, causing mayhem and damage all over the place.
He would have managed quite well, had he not spent half the night talking to B4 and answering that Plumbot's inane questions. And so his energy levels were quite depleted as he dealt with emergency after emergency.
Thank goodness for Sophie's quick thinking. Whilst heading back home from yet another sing a gram, she spotted a house still ablaze, with Blaine shorted out in the driveway, she popped in and put out the flames. (he seems to be doing that a lot - shorting out)
Blaine realised that he wasn't getting any younger and longed to retire. In fact, it was one of his Wishes (that I'd locked a long time ago). But he still hadn't achieved his LTW. So, unfortunately, he'll have to keep plugging ahead until he has managed to rescue ... 30? 50? Sims? I can't remember. I know he's not far off that target.
Back home, B4 was proving to be quite the opposite of a protege. He wandered around the house, wondering at plenty of things....
.... and having suicidal thoughts about taking a dip in the pool!!!
NOOOO!!! B4, you can't just do that, you'll fry! Hasn't Blaine told you that already?
Also, his memory chip must be malfunctioning because I found him standing right in front of one of the regeneration stations, complaining that his battery was going flat.
Blaine? What have you done? What sort of creature have you created?
B4: What's ... 'fragile'

Chapter Forty Eight - Hannah Grows Up
Back home, to the busy suburban family life. Better than Al Sim Hara Austin?
Meh.
Interesting. For a man of many words, he has very few to offer us today.
Change of topic.
Nice suit Austin. (I'm guessing this is is outfit of choice now that he's an International Super Spy), off to work?
Meh
Sorry I didn't lock your wish to retire, but all your wishes were full up and you weren't progressing any further with any of them until you wished to travel.
It was Blaine's first day at work too. The fire station was noticeably empty of staff, so he was just about to upgrade the fire alarm when it went off.
It is making a funny noise.
That's signalling an emergency.
What do I do there is nobody else around.
Hop into the fire engine, drive to the source of the emergency and put out the fire.
Am I allowed to drive the engine?
Sheesh, I don't know, I've never dealt with a Simbot that wanted to be a Fire Fighter before. Just try it.
And so he rushed off, sirens wailing, to deal with his first emergency. A small house fire.
It should have been a piece of cake. However, it seems that one of his supposed work colleagues, decided to get in his way, stomping and yelling, so Blaine was stuck, whilst this small fire went from a Category A - within an hour or two, to a Category B emergency .... 3 hours maybe 4. I had to reset him and send him back there, where it was almost a repeat of the same situation. I had to reroute him to a spot on the lawn then onto putting out the flames.
Even so, he still got a boost up his career for what they call his 'quick thinking in an emergency'. Yeah, riiiight.
He went back to the station, to park his iron butt at the desk and sit chatting to someone - not a clue who though, until his shift ended.
Meanwhile, back home, here's a great glitch for you. William caught in mid transition, just before he turned into a micro fairy and headed off to the fairy castle outside.
Hannah was getting a lot of attention. Austin thought the world of her - and William too.
Even though she was a squally little kid, causing no end of frustration for both Austin and Shannon. So it was no surprise that Shannon felt a wash of relief when it came up to Hannah's birthday. I could have naturally let her transition without the cake, but I thought it would be interesting to see what happens.
Austin's Inappropriate trait kicked in as he mocked Hannah's birthday celebrations.
That's your daughter Austin.
She can't blow out the candles!!
Nevertheless ....
Nah boo!!
They ignored him. As did I.
And so she grew up into a sad faced little toddler. Cute, but just look at that face on her.... bless. She looks a lot like Austin there.
I just love her cute little butterfly wings!!!
Meh.

Chapter Forty Five - Time Flies
William learned a new trick today . Seriously, I didn't even know that toddlers could do this.
Because he was overly tired and everyone else was busy elsewhere, he decided to march his stubby little legs over to the fairy castle outside, and make himself quite at home.
Plus, it was another way of avoiding his little sister's consistent squalling and yelling.
From then on, whenever he was left alone, he'd sneak back in for a quick nap.
After convincing the authorities that a fire station was a vital commodity in the town - due to the dragons that were supposedly hiding out there (I haven't seen one since Austin arrived) - they finally relented and I dropped a premade building onto an empty lot.
That gave Blaine the opportunity to pursue his own lifetime wish. And so he got a job there. He was soooo excited about the prospects of work that he turned up over the weekend to work on upgrading and maintaining the engine and the fire alarms.
He even stayed overnight to recharge his batteries.
However, this wasn't the main bit of news I've got to share.
Without pomp or ceremony, or a majorly big party, Austin aged up to Elder.
WOOOO!!! PARTAY!!!!
Whoa, feel sparkly!!
Oh my, pruny hands!!
Hmm, not bad, not bad at all.
I regard this event with a little hint of sadness because that means that he's at the final stages of his life. However, that doesn't mean that he's prepared to sit down and roll over. Oh noes. He's got plans.
MAJOR plans.
Stayed tuned to find out what they are, in the next update!!!
